The owners of Crossbasket Castle hotel have announced plans for a £15m expansion to take place on the five-star property.
A new 40-bedroom hotel will be set across two floors, with a lounge and courtyard area providing views of the Calder River and gorge.
Also featured in the “ambitious” scheme will be a 132-cover restaurant, a spa, and four new lodges.
Alison Reid Timoney, co-owner of the establishment alongside Steve Timoney, said: “We’re really excited to announce our ambitious expansion plans at Crossbasket Castle.
“We believe pushing forward with this large-scale investment at this highly uncertain time, is not only essential to protect our existing business but is the kind of thing that will encourage the industry to fight back and deliver the standard of facility that our customers are keen to see.”
The project could produce up to 52 jobs in the Blantyre area, and is set to commence in 2021 subject to planning approval.
Crossbasket Castle was bought by its current owners in 2015, who turned the property from a derelict building into a five-star hotel.
